Scan & Deliver: Introduction

What is Scan & Deliver?

Scan & deliver is a new way of delivering library material to you electronically during COVID-19 lockdown restrictions.

You are able to submit a request for a print journal article, or a certain amount of a print book, to be scanned and emailed directly to you. Please see the boxes below for information on how it works and how to order.

Who can use Scan & Deliver?

Scan & Deliver is available to all IADT registered students, as well as to all staff.

How many requests can I make?

You may order up to one scan a day, and a total of three scans a month.

Things to note - our limits

  • Only one article or chapter per request form submitted.
  • Requests for entire books submitted systematically chapter by chapter are a copyright violation and will be cancelled.
  • We cannot scan chapters from books that are currently checked out.
  • Requests for books or articles that are available in our online collections will not be accepted.
  • You can place no more than 1 request per day and 3 requests total per month.
  • Items must be a part of the IADT Library print collections - we cannot scan books in private ownership.

How much can be scanned?

  • One article from any one issue of a journal.
  • One chapter of a book or 10% of a work (whichever is smaller).

If any items cannot be scanned (for example, due to the item being too fragile for scanning, the items being checked out, or the item not falling under standard copyright guidelines), we will email you as soon as possible to let you know.

These limits are due to copyright restrictions.

How long will it take to receive my scan?

We will endeavour to have your request scanned and emailed in 5 working days.

Please note scans will only be emailed to an IADT email address.

Items provided under scan & deliver are subject to Irish copyright laws.

In submitting a request, you are accepting a copyright declaration as part of the request process.

In summary, scanned items are for personal research use only, and may not be shared, distributed, or posted elsewhere online (including Blackboard).
