Experimental Filmmaking and the Motion Picture Camera:An Introductory Guide for Artists and Filmmakers is an excellent introductory guide to the basics of experimental filmmaking, surveying the practical methods of experimental film production as well as the history, theory, and aesthetics of experimental approaches, while emphasis on film rather than digital, and the use of a simple camera, a Bolex.

Clare Langan is an Irish experimental filmmaker who studied fine art at the National College of Art and Design, Dublin. She received a Fullbright Scholarship to New York University in 1992. Langan evokes feelings of nostalgia, loss, and isolation in her atmospheric films.
