Design for Stage and Screen: Reading Lists

Locating Books in the Library

Use the library search function on the IADT library webpage to search for specific books on your reading list or do a keyword or subject search on a particular topic to find additional resources.

1. First, go to the IADT library homepage.

2. Go to tab Our Collections

3. Click on Print collections and it will take you to the library catalogue where you can search all print items:

4. Example:

5. When you search the catalogue, you will see what is known as the "Call Number" listed. The Call Number looks like this:

This is the number that you will need to locate the book on Level 2 of the library.

The Call Number corresponds to the shelf that the book sits on. All books are organized by subject matter using the Dewy Decimal Classification system, which links to a shelf number. The shelf number is the most important starting point for finding the book you require and can be found along the spine of the books on that shelf. The letters you see after the shelf numbers indicate the first letters of the author's surname.

All print/eBooks listed in the Reading List section of this guide are available from the library catalogue.

2. Go to tab Our Collections. Click eBooks and you will see Search the ebook collection.

3. You may be asked to login with your IADT credentials - this is your usual username and password that you use for Blackboard.

4. Once you have logged in, you should see the homepage of eBook Central and can now search the eBooks. Search by title, author or subject.

5. Here is an example of a search:

6. When the required title is found, check that the following message is displayed in order to confirm that the full text is within the library's subscription:
