International Students @ IADT Library: Using the Library on campus

The Library on Campus

information deskThe Library on campus is located in the Atrium Building. We are on Level 1 and Level 2.

Level 1 is a more collaborative space, with soft seating, and our information desk and Library Staff office are located here too. Level 2 is our silent study area with individual desks. The books are located on Level 2.

We have a wide range of facilities available in the Library. You can borrow books at our self-service machine, you can borrow a laptop for a couple of hours, you can browse our DVDs, you can use the computer and printing facilities, you can use our meeting booth, you can practice presentations, you can do group work, and more. Our friendly staff at the information desk ← will be happy to chat with you if you need help 😊

Laptop Loans

The Library has a bank of laptop loans. The laptops available are both Windows and Mac, and are fully loaded with specialised software that is ready-to-use.

Each laptop can be borrowed for 2 hours. There is no limit on how many times you can borrow a laptop, so if you require more than two hours, simply save your work online, return the laptop, and borrow another one.

The laptops must remain inside the Library at all times.

  2. Click "Borrow".
  3. Select either a Windows laptop or a MacBook.
  4. The screen will point an arrow either right or left and give you the number of the locker you are taking from. The locker will also flash to tell you which one is yours.
  5. Swipe your student card again at swipe #2 either on the left- or right-hand side of the kiosk, depending on which laptop locker is flashing.
  6. Open the door of the locker that is flashing, unplug the laptop from the charger, and close the locker door again.
  7. Click "Finish"

To return:

  1. Swipe your card at swipe #1.
  2. Select "Return".
  3. The screen will point an arrow either right or left and give you the number of the locker you are returning to. The locker will also flash to tell you which one to return the laptop to.

  5. Plug the laptop in to the charger.
    • If you do not plug the laptop in it will not be removed from your account and you won't be able to borrow another.
    • The small light to the left of the locker will turn red when you have successfully plugged in the laptop to charge (It goes red to show the laptop is unavailable i.e. because it's charging).
  6. Close the locker door.
  7. Click "Finish".

Returns Box

If the Library is closed, you can return books using the orange drop box we have placed outside the main Library entrance. Just drop your books in the box and we will check them in for you.

Sensory Pod

The Library has a Sensory Pod on Level 1. The Sensory Pod is a great place to take a sensory break and decompress. It has colour changing lights and a TV. You can plug in your own headphones to it too.

This pod is for one person at a time, and can be used for up to 45 minutes per session. Please remove your shoes and keep the pod neat and tidy for the next user.

The Sensory Pod is located on Level 1 of the Library, near the DVDs.
