Library Resources for Doctoral and Masters by Research Students: Thesis Portals

Thesis Portals - Examples

It is possible to access doctoral and Masters theses through institutional repositories and Google Scholar. Additionally several national and global thesis portals offer comprehensive access to full-text research theses. These portals not only showcase current research but also offer insights into thesis structure, methodology, and writing techniques at advanced academic levels. Consulting other students' theses serves multiple purposes:

  1. It demonstrates effective research practices and thesis organisation.
  2. It provides examples of writing styles appropriate for advanced degrees.
  3. It offers an overview of ongoing research in specific fields.
  4. It helps identify potential networking opportunities with fellow researchers

However, it is crucial to use these resources ethically. By studying peer theses, students can gain a deeper understanding of academic standards and expectations in their field, enhancing their own research and writing skills.
